You're starting out, and you saw DropMagic in an ad or a video. Before you take out your card, you want to know what you really get. So we pasted an AliExpress link and went through the whole creation flow. Then we opened every menu of the editor. Here is what we saw, dated and captured.
DropMagic at a glance
- What it is: a Shopify app ("AI Store Builder") made by Dropmagic, a company based in Louin, France. It has been on the App Store since June 13, 2025. It's rated 4.9 out of 5 from 57 reviews as of October 29, 2026.
- What it does: the AI starts from a product link to write and lay out a product page. It adds a home page if you ask for one. You then edit in an editor, and the Pro plan publishes those pages to your Shopify store.
- Who it is for: dropshipping, one product at a time. The app lists integrations with AutoDS, DSers, Kaching Bundles, Minea, Spocket and Zendrop.
- Price: $79 a month. The free plan shows you one generated store but doesn't publish it.
- What we found in our test (September 25, 2026): the store DropMagic generated uses the same template as every other one. It shows AI-written reviews labeled as verified purchases, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 342 users. On AliExpress, the product has 4 reviews. The strikethrough prices were never charged. There are no About, Contact or legal pages. And you don't talk with the AI, since editing happens section by section.
What a beginner should know before paying
These are the limits we ran into during the test. Most of them only show up once you are in the editor.
How much does DropMagic cost, and on what terms?
- Publishing costs $79 a month on top of Shopify. That's $948 a year for DropMagic alone. The free plan shows you a store but doesn't publish it. Without Pro, you have nothing to sell.
- One store on the free plan. When you start a second store, a screen says free accounts are limited to one store. Yet the App Store listing announces "Unlimited stores generations" on the free plan.
- Refunds with conditions. The terms of April 21, 2026 allow a refund within 7 days if you haven't launched more than one store. A renewal is refunded only if canceled within 72 hours. And if you pay inside the app (Stripe), uninstalling the Shopify app doesn't stop the subscription.
- Sales pressure from the start. A Pro window opens when you log in. The editor shows 20% off the first month with a 30-minute countdown. The dashboard promotes a coaching program "$1k/day in 90 days or get refunded".
What doesn't DropMagic do?
- No conversation with the AI for strategy. During creation, you answer two multiple-choice questions about the target customer and the reason to buy. A "decide for me" option lets the tool pick for you. DropMagic then suggests 4 customer profiles and 4 sales angles, and you keep one. Nothing asks you about your brand, your positioning or your market.
- No conversation with the AI to edit the store. Editing goes through the editor, section by section. On each one, you type a short instruction or click a button (shorter, urgency, FOMO...). To change the tone of the whole store, you have to redo every section.
- No About, Contact or legal pages. The tool creates two page types, Home and Product. Advertorial and Listicle are marked "coming soon". The generated menu and footer still link to About, Contact and other pages that don't exist. You have to create your policy pages in Shopify.
How good is the store DropMagic generates?
- Stores that look alike. They all start from the same template, with the same structure and the same sections in the same order. From one store to the next, only the copy, the colors and the images change. We saw it across several generated stores. The five demo stores on the DropMagic website show it too. The App Store listing itself mentions "pre-designed templates".
- Reviews written by the AI, labeled as verified purchases. The product page and the home page show the same reviews and a 4.6 rating from 342 users. The product had 4 reviews on AliExpress. In the US, the FTC rule on consumer reviews (16 CFR Part 465, in force since October 21, 2024) bans reviews that misrepresent that they come from real customers. That includes AI-generated ones.
- Prices in dollars and invented strikethrough prices. The store is in French, but it shows $49.99 instead of $67. The 2-pack goes for $84.98 instead of $134. The store never sold at those strikethrough prices.
How it works, step by step
- The starting point: a product link (AliExpress in our test) or a button that suggests six products.
- The analysis: DropMagic pulls the product's images and reviews. In our test, it found 6 images and 0 reviews.
- The choices: you pick the language out of 34 and the style out of 6 presets, one of them named "AG1". Then you pick the store name out of 8 suggestions.
- The account: you sign in with an email magic link or with Google, no card. It took 1 min 40 s from the link to this screen.
- The generation: you answer two questions about the target customer and the reason to buy. The editor opens 1 min 45 s later.
The features, one by one
Checked in the editor on September 25, 2026. Each feature is followed by its limit when it has one.
What does DropMagic generate?
- Product page. In our test, it had 15 sections, from the gallery to the guarantees. It includes variants, a strikethrough price, bundle offers, reviews, how-to steps and an FAQ. Limit: prices are in dollars in a French-language store.
- Home page. It's generated on request in about 45 seconds, from the free plan up. It strings together a banner, benefits, steps, reviews and a call to action. Limit: it isn't created by default, and it reuses the product page's reviews.
- Section library. It offers 99 sections across 15 categories. The largest one is reviews and social proof, with 23 sections. Limit: inside the French interface, section settings stay in English (Frame, Box ratio, Image overlay).
- Bundle offers. You set the tiers (single, pair, kit) with their quantity and discount. You also choose the preselected tier and the design. The bundle app is included in Pro. Limit: the discounts shown start from strikethrough prices the store never charged.
How does DropMagic tailor the store?
- Target customer and sales angle. DropMagic suggests 4 customer profiles (the morning commuter in a rush, among others) and 4 sales angles. It picks one of each and writes the copy from that choice. You can also add your own. Limit: there's no conversation to build your strategy. You pick from the suggestions.
- Brand kit. It sets the store's visual identity: colors, fonts, typography, icons, buttons and corner radius. DropMagic offers 45 ready-made kits. Of those, 20 carry the name and category of real brands (AG1, Huel, Gruns, Supergoop...).
- AI image Studio. It creates studio-style product photos and lifestyle images. It also makes UGC-style content, as if filmed by a customer, and conversion photos with text. Finally, it can recreate a reference image around your product. A persona creator generates reusable faces from a photo, or by gender, age and skin tone. Limit: you get 2 image credits on the free plan and 30 a month on Pro.
How do you edit and publish a DropMagic store?
- AI rewriting. On every section, you type a free instruction or click a button (shorter, longer, simplify, fix spelling, more emotional, logical benefits, social proof, urgency, aspirational, FOMO). The answer comes back in about 10 seconds, from the free plan up. Asked for French first names, the AI turned Amanda into Amandine. Limit: there's no chat. The AI works section by section, and no instruction applies to the whole store.
- Editor. Each section has its settings and style. You can move, duplicate or delete it. The editor also has undo and redo, with a desktop and mobile preview. A version history restores the whole store. Limit: the mobile preview by QR code is Pro only.
- Publishing to Shopify. You connect your Shopify store and DropMagic publishes its pages there. A setting lets you keep DropMagic's header, cart drawer and footer, or your theme's. Limit: it's Pro only.
- Domain, pixels, sharing. A button lets you claim a free .store domain, which the pricing page lists under Pro. Meta and TikTok pixels come with server-side sending (Conversions API, Events API). You can also share a read-only preview link.
- Languages. You get 34 languages to choose from at creation. Limit: changing the language only translates pages created afterward, not the ones that already exist. Multilingual copy is Pro only.
- Help. Support says it answers "usually within a few hours" (French interface). You can book a free coaching call. Forms let you request a section or a feature.
Free or Pro: what each plan allows
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $79 a month |
| What you do with it | You look at one generated store in the editor | You publish it to Shopify and sell |
| Stores | 1 | Unlimited |
| AI image credits | 2 | 30 a month |
| Free .store domain | No | Yes |
The pricing page puts eight perks in Pro: advanced generation, multilingual copy, premium templates, new sections every month, a bundle app, a .store domain, DropMagic branding removed and priority support. Yet in the editor, the free account already has the same tools, except the domain. What the free plan doesn't let you do is use any of it. You get one store, visible in the editor and never live.
The pricing page and App Store listing were checked on September 25, 2026. The rest was observed during the test. You can pay for Pro in two ways. Inside the DropMagic app, a French account sees 79 € a month paid through Stripe. If you install the app from the App Store, you pay through your Shopify bill. It then shows $79 billed in US dollars every 30 days. The App Store listing names this plan "Premium" at $79 a month as of October 29, 2026. The pricing page calls it "Pro".
What we got on our test product
The product is an AliExpress mini blender rated 4.0 from 4 reviews, with 29 sold. It costs 21.59 € plus 14.42 € standard shipping. We generated the store in French and left the style to the AI. DropMagic suggested the name BlendGo.
What is wrong with the generated product page?
- Links with no page behind them. About and Contact in the menu lead nowhere.
- A rating with no customers behind it. "Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 342 active users" shows on a store created minutes earlier. The product has 4 reviews on AliExpress.
- A subtitle that repeats the title, word for word.
- Prices in dollars in a French-language store. The $67 strikethrough price was never charged by the store.
- Discounts calculated on those strikethrough prices. The 2-pack is at $84.98 "instead of" $134, twice the strikethrough price.
- A discount banner for the subscription. While you edit, a banner next to the page offers 20% off the first month of Pro. A 30-minute countdown comes with it.
What else is wrong further down and on the home page?
Further down the same page:
- a section announces three steps and shows four;
- a "$" banknote icon illustrates "wireless" and "USB", a plant sprout illustrates "direct";
- filler stats: "100 % Nomade", "0 fil", "342+ clients satisfaits" (100% nomad, 0 cables, 342+ happy customers);
- large empty areas under the gallery and under the technical details;
- Amazon, Diners, Discover and JCB among the footer payment logos;
- three footer links with no page behind them: gift sets, sustainability program, USB charging guide.
DropMagic or Scale Ova, situation by situation
Scale Ova starts from a product link like DropMagic, but also from an idea or from your existing Shopify store. Here is what each tool does for you depending on your situation, checked on September 25, 2026.
| Your situation | With DropMagic | With Scale Ova |
|---|---|---|
| You are new to Shopify | Two multiple-choice questions, then the editor section by section. About, Contact and legal pages are yours to create in Shopify | You ask the AI: it also creates pages, menus and policies, and sets shipping, markets and languages in your store |
| You want a store that looks like your brand | Every store starts from the same template: only the copy, colors and images change | The theme, pages and copy are generated for your project |
| You sell in another language | Prices in dollars in a French-language store. Changing the language does not translate pages already created | The store is generated in the language of your market, and the AI translates the existing store |
| You want to change something afterwards | A section editor, with AI rewriting section by section, no chat | You ask in a conversation, for one section or the whole store, or click the element to change |
| You want bundle offers and a cart upsell | Included | Included too: packs, quantity breaks, cart upsell |
| You want a store fast | About three and a half minutes, from link to editor | A few minutes, after a conversation about your brand and your audience |
DropMagic is a little faster. It is the only row where it comes out ahead.
Scale Ova starts with the strategy: your market, your promise, your offers and what makes your buyers hesitate. It then generates the whole Shopify store from that: theme, pages, product pages, collections, copy and images. The AI is connected to the store itself, not only to the pages. It also handles products, collections, menus, discounts, page templates, shipping, markets, languages and translations. For a beginner, that saves looking for each setting in the Shopify admin. See generated stores, no sign-up.
Other DropMagic alternatives
For each tool, here is what it needs to start, what it delivers and where it falls short. Checked between July and September 2026.
Where does each alternative fall short?
- Atlas starts from a product link and fills a predefined template picked out of 13. The default one is used by 80% of stores. Where it falls short: in our September 25, 2026 test, the photos were the AliExpress seller's. The page kept sample reviews and template placeholders left empty. Editing is done by hand with no AI, for $39 a month plus tiers based on your sales.
- Copyfy is a research tool first (top stores, winning products, ad library). The AI store comes on top. It starts from a product link and comes out on a Copyfy theme, in three languages. Where it falls short: there's no free plan, only a 5-day trial then €49 to €129 a month. And you pay for the whole research suite even if you only want the store.
- BuildYourStore and Storebuild.ai start from one niche out of five. You get 10 products sold as "winning", along with a theme and pages. The builder is free, but the Shopify plan is paid. Where it falls short: you choose neither your products nor your design. Editing happens in the Shopify editor, with no AI. And the terms of both services rule out any refund. On Trustpilot, customers of both mention $97 charged after the free store.
- StorePilot (PagePilot) creates a new store with a Home page, an About page and 30 products on the PagePilot theme. According to its website, it's free "for a limited time". Where it falls short: it doesn't work on an existing store, and the free offer is announced as temporary.
- Shopify AI Store Builder generates store designs for free from a few words. Where it falls short: these are designs, not a store with products, copy and a strategy.
How do these tools compare?
| Tool | Starting point | What comes out | Editing after generation | To publish |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Scale Ova | An idea, a product link or an existing store | A complete store: strategy, theme, pages, product pages, copy, images | In conversation with the AI, Shopify admin included (products, menus, shipping, languages), or by clicking an element | A subscription |
| DropMagic | A product link, or a suggested product | A product page, a home page on request, a cart | Section editor, AI rewriting per section, no chat | Pro at $79 a month |
| Atlas | A product link | A product page and a home page on a predefined template, out of 13 | Field editor, by hand, no AI | $39 a month, then tiers based on your sales |
| Copyfy | A product link | A store on a Copyfy theme, in 3 languages | Section by section, or by hand | €49 to €129 a month, after a 5-day trial |
| BuildYourStore | One niche out of five | 10 products, a theme, pages and apps | Shopify editor | Free builder, paid Shopify plan |
| Storebuild.ai | One niche out of five | 10 products from a partner supplier | Shopify editor | Free builder, paid Shopify plan |
| StorePilot (PagePilot) | A niche | Home, About and 30 products, on a new Shopify store | Shopify editor | Free "for a limited time", paid Shopify plan |
| Shopify AI Store Builder | A few words of description | Store designs | Shopify editor | Free generation, Shopify plan to publish |
